CLERKS!

I can’t get customer service anywhere I go. It should be taught in High School as a course!

Who needs em?
Who needs em?

Are you kidding me? I go out in the freezing cold weather, to buy a gift for someone, …I have to walk a damn mile from my car to the store, shake myself silly just to warm up…find what I’m looking for, ON MY OWN, because there’s no saleperson on the floor to HELP me?..and then the insult gets added to the injury, when I’m waiting in line to PAY for my stuff. We know the ‘register girl’ is gonna be slow as anything??… but what I’m NOT prepared for, is that when it’s finally my turn, to pay her with my money, her phone rings, and she takes that call, instead of taking care of ME. The one that’s been abused by the elements, and the store, and the lack of customer service! She’d rather help a customer that phoned in, with a question.
NO! I’m sorry, I meant, ‘No-wuh?’ Not on MY watch??? I put my finger on that disconnect button faster than you could say, “watch me now!” She looked at me like I had two heads. I said to her, “I braved the storm to come see you personally. So darlin? I come first.”
I think she gets it now. Either she gets it, or she thinks I’m an escapee from an asylum?   Who cares.

I gotta tell you, being on the other end of that isn’t easy either. At both my retail jobs, they lack the payroll to have enough people on the floor to take care of all the customers. Yesterday I was left to fend for myself while my manager was on a conference call. They usually are by themselves for most of the day because payroll doesn’t allow them to schedule more people. Money is tight and they’ll cut back as much as they can and have the store running with as few employees on the clock as possible. Believe me, we would love to have more people working so we’re not running around like chickens with our heads cut off, but if corporate won’t give you the hours, you’re SOL.

As for the girl answering the phone instead of waiting on you, she definitely should have answered, “[name of store]. Please hold,” put the call on hold and then taken care of you.

It’s frustrating on both ends. But that place probably needs a speedy cashier like myself. Slowpokes need to be the back up.

I totally get what you’re saying, and I should be a bit more sympathetic, I believe. What a great compromise you’ve come up with! “the ON HOLD button!” So true!
